Visit to RAAF Williamtown
July 22, 2015
I visited RAAF Base Williamtown to do a site inspection and participate in public hearings as Chair of the Public Works Committee on the $274 million Stage 2 redevelopment of the airforce base.
RAAF Williamtown is located north of Newcastle in NSW and was established in 1941. Today it plays a central role in delivery of RAAF operational capability and is Australia's primary fighter pilot training base.
The base will be home to the new Joint Strike Fighter which will soon replace the current F/A-18 Hornets under the New Air Combat Capability Project.
